Remembering Dr. S Bush Blanasi

Proud Manyili man, from Wugularr (Beswick) Northern Territory, Dr S. Bush-Blanasi is a founding member of Top End Aboriginal Bush Broadcasting Association heavily involved in the Board of Directors of TEABBA, being a founding member of TEABBA, and a driving force in years before to achieve its inception in 1989. 

Dr S. Bush-Blanasi has contributed to TEABBA for over 34 years which has played an important role in the development of TEABBA which in turn has help develop and shape the Australian Indigenous media sector's landscape scope.

For more than three decades, Dr S. Bush Blanasi has advocated for the First Nations People of Australia, through the power and voice of media. In 2022 this passion and endless dedication to these goals he received acknowledgement (Honorary Doctor of letters (Honoris Causa).

Following on 2023 receiving the Australian of the year award, he was also an activist for land rights, which recently included the handing back to local clan groups in Kakadu National Park, also in the Territory Native coastal and tidal areas, with the High Court’s Blue Mud Bay decision.

Dr S. Bush-Blanasi, in his other roles and or previous involvement to empower First Nations People include,
Chairman of the Northern Land Council (NLC).
Aboriginal Benefit Account (ABA) now known as Northern Territory Aboriginal Investment corporation (NTAIC).
Australia Sea Company (ASC)
Aboriginal Investment Group (AIG)


As a Board Member/ Ex Chairperson & Founding Member, looking at some of the above mentioned that of his life's work, and the wearing of many hats which are finally being acknowledged, we would like to send deepest condolences to Julie and his immediate family in this time of sadness.
